Islands of Fleet / November 2008

Perfect weather and a great solo trip from Brighouse Bay out to the Islands of Fleet.

Rock hopping through the calm but cloudy water early on, rounding Dunrod point almost ended in disaster - numerous sharp rocks lurking cm's beneath the surface and the very gentle swell doing very little to reveal their presence - a few new scratches to the hull but no real damage thankfully.

Past Manxman's rock, on to Dove cave and then Meikle Pinnacle...a great section of coastline which then gives way to the low shore and open bay of Kirk Andrews. Here the wind picked up for a while, an icy breeze making for a cold crossing to Barlocco Island and lunch.

Just time to explore Murray's isles before heading back across the bay, with the cliffs now glowing in the late afternoon, low winter sun.
