Isle of Mull / June 2008

Four wonderful days of blue skies if rather fresh northerly winds, allowed exploration of the Ross of Mull as well as the islands of Ulva, Gometra and little Colonsay.
While the fresh north easterlies persisted, the south coast of the peninsula and islands providing a haven of sheltered water, bright sun and blue skies.
Paddling among the islands, beneath striking granite cliffs and above brilliant white sands, I was delighted to see otters, porpoises, the usual common seals and mink on most days though the highlight was watching a pair of golden eagles, one of which landed immediately behind the tent while camped in a remote bay on the Ross of Mull.
My first visit to Mull: I'm amazed I have managed to overlook the place so far and it will not be the last.
