Cable Bay - Llanddwyn Island

A return trip from Cable Bay to Llanddwyn Island (approx 23km). With a 1.5m swell predicted by Magic Seaweed and waves of a similar height (12 second period), expectations of surf along the way were high.
In fact, to our surprise there was very little surf at Cable Bay as we launched beneath blue skies. Once out along the jagged coast however, things soon picked up providing some fun amongst the 'rock gardens'.
Chris escapes Aberffraw beach, after an 'interesting' landing through more significant surf.
Brian exploring the small coves and headlands en route to LLanddwyn...
...before crossing the wide expanse of Malltreath Bay, the dune backed beach beyond.
Leaving Llanddwyn Island.
Off Dinas Bach, the water lively but friendly.
Wallowing amongst the foam.
The last leg, beneath dramatic skies...
...saw us arrive just in time for a last play in the smaller surf...
...and failing light, at Cable Bay.
A great finish to the first weekend's paddling of 2010.
