St Ninian's Isle & Colsay

Perhaps a trip best completed on a sunny evening, when the light will catch the dramatic west facing cliffs and of course the iconic tombolo that divides Bigton Wick from St Ninian's Bay.
The light was less good for much of the day, although the cliffs are still impressive having rounded Loose Head...
...with many channels and caves to explore...
...before heading south to Colsay and Cloki Stack...
...the bulk of Fitful head beckons, but will have to wait for another day.
Seals watch as we pass Ox Eye heading north again...
...to land on the tombolo...
...and of course complete the portage...
...and the short paddle back across Bigton Wick, to round off the day.
