Outer Hebrides: Scarp

Scarp is one of those very special islands, its coastline offering all that is best about sea kayaking.
Indeed, this was a trip which for me, was on par with paddling around Papa Stour or out to Muckle Flugga in Shetland
That is not to say that it is similar, Scarp being entirely different in character to any of the Shetland Isles, but rather that these are committing journeys around wild shores upon which the ocean swell breaks...
...as sea eagles soar above.
It is the kind of sea kayaking that will leave memories imprinted in the mind for many years.
Journey around Scarp and you will find the mind's eye returning to the white sands, the green waves, the foam flecked swells...
...rugged cliffs and deep caves will draw you in...
...just as surely as the beauty of calm coves will draw you back.
It is the essence of sea kayaking.
