Penrhyn Mawr: The Inner Race

We actually spent much more time in the Outer Race on this day which was wild enough to put a stop to any photography. Flowing at around 5 knots and with waves to around 6ft, we enjoyed some exciting surfing and were all hammered by a few breakers, the leading waves however were clean and provided great sport.
The inner race was much smaller and the eddies far less affected by the boils and small whirlpools on the edges of the outer race...
...there were still some good waves however...
...and we made the most of these...
...before heading on around the headland, the low swell creating ideal conditions for the superb rock hopping here...
...while still allowing a few tighter corners to be explored. Another superb day on what is arguably the best of Anglesey's coastline.

I spent weekend watching from a distance I didn't dare take my new boat (as scratched as it already is) in the rock gardens. I'm sure they are tougher than they feel. Once again great pictures.

Hi Stuart - they are far tougher than many think...you just have to accept repairing damaged gel coat as part of the fun. Despite some heavy knocks, I've yet to do any more serious damage, fingers crossed!
Cheers
