Rocking and Hopping!

With the wind up a few notches (SW F5), a day's rock hopping on the south west coast of Anglesey seemed to fit with our agenda. We left Porth Trescastell, (Cable Bay), following the rugged coast with the intention of enjoying a surf at Traeth Mawr.
A dull start gave way to a brighter afternoon as we worked our way towards the Ynys Meibion: Chris negotiating a gap en route.
Tim concentrating on getting the right line...
...before being surfed through.
Chris makes it over a reef to deeper water and the chop beyond.
Just short of Aberffraw Bay a strong wind warning came in over the VHF; we did a smart about turn, paddling back into the F6 north westerly predicted not holding much appeal.
The return towards Cable Bay was exhilarating on a sizeable following sea and as the winds seemed fairly constant still, we continued to investigate the surf around Rhosneigr.
In the end, we didn't get any conventional surfing done...
...although the surf landing near the skerries of Carreglydan was entertaining.
In total we covered little in the way of mileage, but again, a superb afternoon's paddling making the most of the conditions.
