Damp days in the Dales

Wet granite is ok to a point. Wet gabbro the same. Wet grit is pretty useless and slate horrific. Wet rock generally is not much good for anything, depressing if you're intent on climbing, but then surely not such a problem for mountain biking? Unless of course your route consists primarily of wet, polished limestone.
A quick spin this afternoon, up on to the fell above Littondale resulted in: little more than 10km covered, 350ft ascent, a treacherous descent and no less than 5 falls. Limestone!
