Malham memories

A beautiful evening in The Dales - perfect for a quick spin above Malham - I think of evenings like these as recompense for living so far from the coast.
Passing a cluster of limestone boulders - the track here is a delight to ride...
...before it drops to the tarn and Great Close Scar beyond - another old stomping ground where I remember the loose rock and old pegs...
...and Karl, battling with 'Gorm' - a jamming test piece at E1 5c. (Yes - jamming on limestone...)
I sat awhile by the tarn, enjoying the quiet as the water coloured with the setting sun...
...feeling little need to go far in the hour that I had, yet as the sun sank the hour stretched and I waited, listening to the curlews, watching the shadows lengthen, before turning for home.
