Riding high

Riding into the fells from Seathwaite requires a certain degree of optimism. Or the simple acknowledgement that there will be precious little riding on the way up. If that is an acceptable price, then the reward is some of the best descents the lakeland fells have to offer.
Looking back down Grains Gill - on the way up at least, there is time to appreciate the view.
Another rest and another view - Gable from Esk Hause and the start of the brilliant run down to Styhead Tarn.
Wispy cloud rising and shifting across the steep northern flank of Lingmell...
...and the summits of the western fells.
Gable, Grassmoor and Skiddaw the prominent summits in this shot.
And the rattling drop down to Borrowdale.
