On the edge

A visit to Earl Crag at this time of year, on the first day when there remains just enough light for a quick climb after work, is becoming something of a tradition. On this occasion I arrived earlier than usual and enjoyed the luxury of just sitting in the sun on the edge for a short while.
But on the edge of summertime, the sun sets quickly and I made the most of what light was left...
...and carried on until there was almost none left at all.
Walking back along the tops, the night was alive with the sound of lapwing, curlew and snipe - spring at last.
