Running the Cleveland Way

Very much a route of two halves - coast and moor - on this trip we focused on the coast, running between Ravenscar, a little south of Robin Hood's Bay, and Skinningrove, just short of Saltburn where the route turns inland. I've kayaked much of this coastline and it's always good to see a place from a new perspective...
The small towns along the way in particular - tightly clustered roof tops of Runswick Bay reminding me of villages among the alps...
...and an alpine ridge in miniature - a slight diversion which may not be around the next time you pass this way.
Looking out over Staithes, an enjoyable section of the route, before dropping down towards Skinningrove where its character changes. We turned in towards Loftus here, an entirely unremarkable town whose saving grace after completing approximately 18 miles, was a bus back to our starting point.
