Mosedale Horseshoe

Our last run on a long weekend which saw us cover over 60 miles and some 5,000m of ascent, mostly in strong winds and rain - but on this day a dawn start was required to beat the heat.
Sunrise saw us running towards Wasdale Head and the unmistakable silhouette of Great Gable and Kirk Fell - the flank of Lingmell to the right.
Turning into Mosedale, Pillar - our main objective for the morning - dead ahead.
Morning mist on the ridge, Yewbarrow and the lower part of the ridge leading to the summit of Red Pike beyond.
Looking down into Mosedale and across to Yewbarrow.
Approaching the summit of Pillar...
...before the clouds closed in once more. We crossed the summit with almost zero visibility, before the mist cleared dramatically approaching Red Pike.
The last steep drop to Wastwater, the fells now brilliant green with the growth of new bracken.
