Long views in the Lakes

Running from Braithwaite, Grisedale Pike is a stiff climb with nothing more than a few yards on the road by way of a warm up. There are two short level sections - both a delight but each followed by another steep ascent.
If nothing else however it's a quick way onto the tops and the climb is followed by a lovely ridge leading to Hopegill Head - it is one of my favourite paths to run in the Lakes...
...looking back on Grisedale Pike. After which I made the quick descent and slower ascent on to Grassmoor with long views to the central fells and across the Solway to Scotland.
A little later, from the summit of Crag Hill, looking along another wonderful ridge to run - the view to Causey Pike with the Helvellyn ridge beyond - Clough Head the lower summit immediately above Causey Pike.
And from much the same point, a view of Hopegill Head (L) and Grisedale Pike (R).
I finished by cutting back down from Causey Pike to take in Barrow - a minor top but one which I have looked up to often enough from the village and which I was keen to cover.
The last mile and last light on Skiddaw.
