Running the South West Coast Path - The Lizard

After running back to Land's End from our base a little way inland from Penzance and collecting the car, our next objective was The Lizard. Notably different in character, the coastline here reminded me in places of Shetland and is one I would happily return to with the kayak.
Perhaps it was simply that this was a shorter route than either of the two which preceded it, but the running felt easier, the miles slipping by with less effort and though there was no shortage of bog to be waded across there where many other beautiful sections which were a delight to run.
A long section high above the waves on the last few miles approaching Lizard Point...
...and the view back, these cliffs in particular reminding of places a long way north of here.
Beyond Lizard Point, the coast softens gradually dropping in height and a fast stretch brought us before too long to Cadgwith...
...the thatched cottages and idyllic harbour making a beautiful end to another fine coastal run. At least, it was the end for one of us. Someone still had to find their way across The Lizard and back to the car.
