Some things never change

One of those runs that felt a lot longer than it was and on which I saw far fewer people than I thought I might. Starting in Patterdale I took an unfrequented route up St Sunday Crag before taking in the ridge of Nethermost Pike and the summit of Helvellyn, descending via Swirral Edge - a few images from a superb day on the fells...

On the ascent of St Sunday Crag a little earlier.
Approaching Grisedale Tarn...
...before an enjoyable climb to Nethermost Pike.
Descending Swirral Edge, I was struck by just how eroded it was, the ridge having been covered in snow on the only occasions I have been this way in recent years. The rough descent of Catstye Cam to the old dam was just as rocky as I remembered however, and the final miles back to Patterdale took just as long as they always do. Some things never change.
