High Cup Nick

A wild day in Upper Teesdale, following the river past Cauldron Snout, around Cow Green reservoir, over Meldon Hill (767m) and across to High Cup Nick. Back via the Pennine Way.
There isn't much in the way of exposure or scrambling on this route, but I found a nice little arete to rejoin the path on the northern edge.
A perfect U shaped glacial valley...
...and the southern edge - there must be a few climbs here worth a look.
The top of Cauldron Snout...
...and Cow Green - the subject of much controversy when the dam was built, now a wild upland reservoir and a lonely expanse amidst the rolling fells.
A wet and windy slog back.
